What makes an effective post-impact assessment? A presentation to the Disaster Management Conference 2014

Posted 20 August 2014 by Scott Davey (Crisisworks)

A few months ago I had the pleasure to present at the Disaster Management Conference 2014 held at the Gold Coast.

The topic was on a favourite area of mine, the use of digital systems to improve the post impact assessment process, both out in the field and in the EOC.

As part of this presentation, I used two case studies:

  1. Northern Grampians Shire Council during the early recovery process after February 2014's Grampians Complex Fires, and
  2. East Gippsland Shire Council, during the recovery process following the 2013 Victorian floods.

Both councils used our Crisisworks mobility tools to capture post-impact assessment information from the field, and our Crisisworks cloud system to manage the recovery process form their Recovery Centre.

Below is an audio recording of that presentation, along with a whitepaper that I've written derived from the content of the presentation.
