Indigo Shire Exercise

Posted 8 October 2012 by Sean Fishlock (Crisisworks)

Last Friday I traveled with Peter Kakris up to Beechworth to provide admin support to a MECC exercise at Indigo Shire.

Exercise "Rolling Thunder" was held at the MECC facility, Beechworth Senior Citizen's club and participants included liaison officers from the local response agencies, SES facilitator, and a gallery of interested observers.

Participants had no knowledge in advance of the scenario or injections to the system and in addition most participants had no prior exposure to Crisisworks MECC Central software, however the incident was coordinated quite well using the system.

Two data projectors were used for a common operating picture.  Many participants brought their own laptops, however using a number of Crisisworks supplied iPads, participants began to use the devices to their full potential, roaming around the room to effectively communicate whilst accessing and making decisions on the tablets.

The exercise was a rewarding experience and we are grateful to Indigo Shire for the opportunity to participate.
